Are You A Living Sacrifice? (Or Just Living)

Tuesday, December 28, 2004 (03:03:32)
Romans 12:1
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies, a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Whenever I present a message like the following, there is always someone who will write to me saying, "That wasn't very gentle." Before anyone does that, I would like to describe an alarm clock we have in our house.

When the preset time has arrived, the alarm will sound, gently at first. If you do not turn off the alarm or hit the snooze button, the alarm gets louder to get your attention if necessary. If sleepyhead still ignores the alarm, the clock shoves a disgruntled rooster in your ear. The alarm clock has a job to do. It will do what is necessary to get that job done. Most of the time, a gently nudge is all it takes to arouse someone from slumber. Some people need a little more coaxing, while others have to be dragged out of bed before they get moving.

I hope this explains the volume of the alarm. If you are already awake, dressed and ready for work, have a nice day. Smile

Got Demons?

Thursday, December 09, 2004 (23:00:00)
You have probably seen the billboards that show a celebrity with a milk mustache. The caption reads, "Got Milk?" and is meant to promote milk drinking. Wouldn't it be weird if a billboard showed a person frothing at the mouth and writhing on the floor? The caption might read, "Got demons?" and promote a church or television preacher. There are some in the Christian community who base their entire ministry on the doctrine that a Christian can be possessed by demons. They hold seminars, write books and teach Christians how to cast demons out of themselves. Wouldn't it be nice to have a penny for every do-it-yourself exhorsism kit that has been sold in one form or another? We will examine this practice, comparing it to scriptural examples.

Q - How many government employees does it take to change a light bulb?
A - Forty-five. One to change the bulb and 44 to do all the paperwork.

Q - How many chiropractors does it take to change a light bulb?
A – Just one, but it takes forty-five visits to get it done right.

Q - How many TV evangelists does it take to change a light bulb?
A - One, but if you want the light to continue to shine, you need to send in a tax
deductible love offering.

Q – How long does it take a preacher to change a light bulb?
A – Nobody knows. Everyone fell asleep while he was preaching about it.

GETTING THE ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS

LUKE 1:5-23

All of us have gone to God before, asking Him to answer our prayers, haven’t we? It seems like each time we need something, we are there asking Him to help us. And, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, there is everything right with it. You have heard me say many times that we are supposed to be fully dependant upon God for everything. And, what better way to show our dependence upon Him than to do so in prayer.[/color]

FAITH IS PROACTIVE

I believe that GOD has given us directions for everything we will need to spiritually grow and maintain in Him. For example, He has given us a very simple plan for salvation, for evangelizing that plan to others in both individual and missions type settings.
