Little White Lies (Little Black Heart)

Thursday, July 25, 2002 (00:00:00)
Lies you may have heard (or told):

  • If you keep working as hard as you have been, you could manage this company some day.
  • Helen, this meatloaf tastes wonderful.  I must have the recipe.
  • My that's a pretty dress!  It looks great on you!
  • You have a wonderful voice.  Have you been singing long?
  • I did not have sex with that woman. (Bill Clinton)
  • I love you Lord.  (OUCH!)
How many times have you told little white lies?  Let's clear something up once and for all.  There is no such thing as a little white lie.  There is the truth and there are lies.  So, with that out of the way, how often do you lie?  We might attempt to justify the lie by telling yourself you do not want to sound harsh or you want to make the other person feel good or it's not hurting anyone.  Face it, lying is a sin.

Black Monday

September 15, 2001 Why the stock market should not reopen Matthew 6:19-21 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Because of the tragedy on New York, the stock market closed on Tuesday, September 11, and remained closed the rest of the week.  Since that time, people have continued to go to work, buy groceries, work in their yards and carry on a normal life.  What would happen if we kept the stock market closed for good?

Note: Historically, we know the stock market reopened and fell. For three years, the tech stocks (NASDAQ) have remained low even though the NYSE has risen to where it was before the September 11 terrorist attacks. Companies have layed off thousands of workers and sent those jobs to China, Mexico and India, where labor is cheaper. People are blaming the President for the poor economy, forgetting all about what started the mass sell-off of stocks which sparked corporate restructuring.

Deja vu (all over again)

Sunday, March 03, 2002 (11:56:05)
I learned how to tell time when I was a small child. I had to break that bad habit when I no longer believed in time."But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." II Peter 3:8
