Whatever Happened to SARS?

Monday, May 05, 2008 (04:04:44)
Do you remember SARS? Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome struck between November 2002 and July 2003, with 8,096 known infected cases and 774 deaths. Paranoid schizophrenics posted all over the Internet, stating that the pandemic would fill hospitals to capacity. There would be bodies lying in the streets, food shortages, lack of emergency services and ultimately, Marshall Law. Then came the news of Avian Flu. Were you one of those who raided the grocery stores, bought guns and ammunition and N95 face masks?

Will SARS or the bird flu get us? Probably. We'll also be destroyed by hurricanes, earthquakes, super bugs, global warming and we'll become slaves to the New World Order.

Grace

Tuesday, April 22, 2008 (03:35:03)
I am unworthy of my salvation. I am not worthy to go to Him in prayer. No matter what I do, my deeds and words are filthy and I defile everything that is holy. I cannot do anything to earn His love or even be pleasing in His site. There are no words that I can say. There is no gift that I can bring, to lay before His feet. I am not special above anyone else because of what I do or what I say or how I say it.

It is only by His grace that I am saved, and I have a difficult time comprehending that grace.

You are no more special that I am and I am no more special than you. We are all pitiful creatures, but He loves us. I don't know why or how.

So stop feeling superior to others because of what you do or say or how you say it. Without grace...without His grace, we are nothing at all.

Some people get so wrapped up in their particular doctrine to the point they do not know who He is. They have no relationship because they are too busy trying to do the right thing. He knows I am a scallawag and I don't always do the right thing, but He loves me and likes to spend time with me.

I don't understand His grace. I don't know why He loves me, but I'm so glad He does. So, if I am not like you, I can accept that and He can accept that. Why can't you?

My Dash

Monday, April 14, 2008 (22:00:00)
Someone sent me an email the other day with a link to a video about a poem someone read at a funeral and it got me to thinking about my life. It's funny how facing death makes us aware of life.

I suppose I've spent a great deal of my life confusing people around me by moving from one project to another, riding one cloud after another. Those who stick around long enough eventually realize that there is a method to my perceived madness and even though it appears that I weave in and out, I usually move in a particular direction, moving closer to a particular goal, accomplishing a particular task. If you were to ask me why, I may not be able to give you a clear answer. It's just what I do. What I accomplish becomes the ink that writes the dash between the date when I was born and the date when I die. It's a short line, almost imperceptible and easily ignored by those who are not paying attention. It's merely punctuation in the great mystery of life.

How depressing!

When I Said I Do

Wednesday, January 02, 2008 (00:43:02)
Our anniversary was on the 21st of December.  I wonder what couples do when they don't celebrate any occasion other than a Biblical holiday, no birthdays, no anniversaries. Do they think the celebration of a blessing is a sin  My wife and I are just common folks.  Some would consider us poor.  We didn't go anywhere special on our anniversary, no gifts, but we remembered it just the same and I don't see how that could be a sin.  Perhaps the abstinence camp could produce some Scriptures to validate their chosen practice.

Oh Six Oh Six Oh Six

Tuesday, June 06, 2006 (12:04:33)
The world is in a hoop-dee-doo today about the number 666 because today is 06/06/06, showing that they lack the understanding of the true meaning of the scriptures. There have even been some churches who have called for prayer vigils to keep the devil at bay because they fear what they do not understand.

I blame this on the pastors for not preaching the Word as it is written. For more on this issue, read the article 666 Sickness. Print if off, take it to church and pass out copies.

Stick to the Word and avoid witch hunts. Trouble will find you soon enough. You don't have to conjure it up.
