How It Feels To Be Ted Kennedy

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 (21:54:20)
Ted Kennedy died today of brain cancer and he now believes in God.  Whether or not he believed before is no longer relevant because now that he is dead, there is no doubt in his mind that there is a God and Ted now realizes that he alone is responsible for everything single thing that he did in life, from his unabashed liberal behavior and politics to the drowning of Mary Jo Kopechne in the tide channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts, after which he fled the scene of the crime.

Death is the ultimate truth.  It destroys all doubt and all lies.  It exposes every devious, deceitful game that has been played in life and places each and every one of us right in front of God to answer for what we have done.

The rich man will answer for how he got his riches and what he did with them.  Likewise the poor man will answer for what he did in his poverty.  The liar, thief, cheat, prostitute, child abuser, or all around pain in the neck will eventually be dead, dead, dead and they will face the Truth.

How will you fare on that day?  Will you gladly lay your life before the throne of God or will you dread facing the Almighty because your life has been a sham, one lie after another, one unconfessed, unrepented sin after another?

Think about it and do something about it today because your tomorrow and your tomorrow's tomorrows just might be indescribably uncomfortable.

I wonder how it feels to be Ted Kennedy right about now, now that he knows the Truth beyond a shadow of a doubt.  Can you imagine how you will feel on that day?

Is This Your Marriage?

Although this film was produced 58 years ago, it seems surprisingly appropriate for today.
How does the content stack up to what you hear from the pulpit?

I dare you to watch this with your spouse.

Hope - The Great Failure of the Church

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 (03:37:35)
1 Corinthians 13:13
But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

Millions of sermons each year focus on faith and love.  We are taught that without faith it is impossible to please G-d.  We are encouraged to show compassion on our fellow man, but the Church has failed because there is little or no focus on one of the most critical components in our lives, hope.

Overcome With Reality

Luke 12:54-56
12:54 Jesus also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A rainstorm is coming,’ and it does.
12:55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,’ and there is.
12:56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how can you not know how to interpret the present time?

People think they are pretty smart. Everyone does. They believe that their own logic is infallible. They believe they have a grip on their surroundings and are able to second guess the majority of troubles that come their way. It's a survival mechanism that we all have, or at least...well, we believe we have it.

When we don't have enough information to plan for the near future, we look to experts who also believe their logic is infallible. That's where we run into trouble, because people are not as smart as they think they are. Perhaps you are feeling the pain and embarrassment of misplaced faith.

Your First Reaction

OCEANO, California (AP) -- A homeless woman has died of suffocation after being buried by three men on a California beach -- a fate her family described as her greatest fear.

Three men were being held on involuntary manslaughter charges in the death Wednesday of 53-year-old Patricia Ann Kalbskopf.

They allegedly poured sand over her while she was passed out drunk at some dunes along the state's central coast.

Investigators say they don't believe the men, who were also drinking, intended to kill Kalbskopf, but their actions resulted in her death.

Kalbskopf's niece, Lisa Cruz, said her aunt's fear of burial was so acute she made the family promise to cremate her after her death. The family plans to honor the request.
