A Call to Testify

Monday, April 12, 2004 (12:05:34)
We have heard is said many times, "Talk is cheap." The statement is usually meant to downplay a person's claim or promise by insinuating it doesn't cost anything to talk. Saying something is easy to do. It doesn't cost one thin dime to give your testimony even though I am sure there are missed opportunities in conversations around our homes, schools, malls and churches. When was the last time you gave your testimony or testified about what God is doing in your life? Sadly, even though talk is considered cheap, few Christians say much even when they have the chance. At Gentle Ministries, we believe this is because they may not realize that what they have to say is important and how easy it is to get that word out. We're doing something about that.

Where Have We Gone Wrong?

Saturday, March 20, 2004 (13:32:42)
In recent weeks, churches throughout the UK have been asked to pray for Christian converts in Muslim countries who are suffering oppression as a result of their decision. Fine, I have absolutely no problem with that. I applaud the sentiment and marvel at their bravery. The grace those of us in predominantly Christian countries stand in so freely isn't to be taken lightly. Now, the majority of Christians would probably leave it there, accept it and think no more about it.

However, it greatly worried me for some reason and I couldn't work out why. It's been gnawing at my mind for a couple of weeks and I've finally figured it. Please bear with me and be prepared to disagree if you like. I am open to persuasion because my conclusions are a little negative and I don't believe a Christian should be.

Right to Carry

Wednesday, October 15, 2003 (16:45:17)
The state I live in justpassed a "Right to Carry" law. This means that eligible andqualified citizens can purchase a permit to carry a concealed firearm. Immediately after the law was passed, hundreds of people enrolled in themandatory firearm safety courses, forking over hundreds of dollars to learn howto keep from hurting themselves and others. The concept is simple. Don't point the bangie end at anything you don't want to kill. I know, Iknow, there is more to it than that, but not much. After people startedtaking the safety courses, the state supreme court struck down the law and sentit back for revision. Apparently there was some unacceptable wording thatcould cause problems in the future. The main thing that could causeproblems is all the people carrying guns when they shouldn't even be trustedwith a sharp Crayola.

Preaching to the Cats

Saturday, September 20, 2003 (06:30:00)
It's amazing the truth you find in the Word even though you have read a particular passage of scripture for years and can quote it in your sleep.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I wonder if refers to EVERY creature...
