Joy In Justice

Thursday, October 03, 2002 (01:00:00)
We were navigating our way through a crowded parking lot in search of a place for lunch. The other lane was blocked up ahead and a pickup truck pulling a beautiful new boat was in our lane, headed straight for us. Realizing his predicament, I stopped to let him pass. As he went by, I smiled and waved. He looked straight ahead, never acknowledging my act of kindness. My feathers ruffled, I watched in the rearview mirror as he rudely drove away.

Shortly thereafter, I heard a horn honk and looked into my mirror again. The driver of the truck was honking at a tractor trailer that was trying to back out of an alley. He didn't see or hear the pickup truck and backed into the new boat. The driver of the pickup truck jumped out and began SCREAMING at the driver of the big rig. I smiled and drove on...

Dad Loves You More!

Thursday, September 26, 2002 (01:00:00)
"Dad loves you more" Question: How many children have said this? Answer: Every one who has a brother or sister. Each one of my kids (4) thinks I love the others more than I do them. Each one can justify this in their mind. Everyone carries a portion of sadness because of this untruth. Everyone, including me. Do they feel that I love the others more, or that I love them less? How sad to live with this feeling. How sad not to realize how much they are loved.

STOP SHOUTING! I AM NOT DEAF!

Sunday, September 08, 2002 (08:34:14)
How many times have you said this?  How many times have you heard it from others?

We live in a shouting society.  We shout at other drivers when the windows are rolled up. They can't hear us yet we still yell at them.  We yell at our dogs.  Do we need to use a loud command voice to help our dogs hear when they misbehave?  No, dogs hear better than we do.  We yell at our children, spouses, co-workers, even at ourselves.

Dignity in Dying

Thursday, September 05, 2002 (01:00:00)
"Dignity in dying is when you don't drool" - Roy Schieder in "All That Jazz"

Most people do not think about death very often. To some, it is an unknown that cannot be comprehended. To others, it is an incomprehensible unknown. Can you imagine the legacy you will leave behind?

Moral Dilemma (with survey)

Wednesday, September 04, 2002 (06:58:17)
Here is the dilemma John and Mary (not their real names) have been living together for several years. They recently announced their engagement to be married. They wanted to visit John's parents for a weekend. Upon asking permission to come for a visit, a dilemma was formed in John's parent's home. John's mother said they were welcome to come, but would have to sleep in separate bedrooms. John's father thought it would be alright for them to sleep together. This dilemma could potentially cause disharmony in the family.
