Body Remodeling

Friday, October 18, 2002 (12:40:41)
I recently looked in the mirror and was shocked to discover that I have gray hair. Yes, it's true.  I know you are as shocked as I was to find out. Prematurely gray, of course. :-)  I could try to make myself feel better by saying at least I have hair...  The presence of so much gray (white) hair would lead people to believe I am much older than I really am.

I remembered what it was like having black hair, so I took a trip to the store to buy some "Just For Men" hair stuff. I looked inside the box and found the metamorphic process more complex than I cared to embrace.

Would'a Could'a Should'a

Thursday, October 17, 2002 (01:00:00)
Several years ago, I was driving to work on a bitter cold winter day.  A man was walking beside the road. He had no coat and appeared to be homeless. It was so cold that I was even huddled inside '74 Plymouth as the heater worked overtime to put out what was considered warm in comparison to the outside temperature.

As I drove past, I had an overpowering urge to give this man my leather coat. There were cars behind me and Kansas City drivers can get a little impatient, so I continued to drive by this man and watched him through my rearview mirror as he faught to keep warm in the icy wind. Even though I had the excuse of being in traffic, the mental picture of this man haunts me to this day. He doesn't know me from Adam, but he is now somehow in my life, in my heart.

Real Men

Thursday, October 10, 2002 (01:00:00)
Real men are tough. Real men are macho. Real men must hide their true feelings if they are less than macho. Real men do not cry.

Young boys are taught that crying is for the weak. If they cry, they are labeled "sissy" by their peers. When they grow older, they hang on to what they learned when they were young.

Pretty Sticks With Knobs

Tuesday, October 08, 2002 (23:22:58)
The game of golf goes something like this. You go to a pretty park, put a ball on a small wood pegin the ground and smack it with the knob on the end of a stick. The ball flies into the woods and you go looking for it. When you find it,you keep smacking the ball over and over until you get it onto a real pretty, smooth grassy place where someone has dug a small hole. You hit the ball into the small hole and start the entire process all over again. When you are playing a game of golf, you keep changing sticks because you don't like what the last one did to the ball. You think "Maybe using another stick will help" but it usuallydoesn't.
