Christians take pride in their intolerance of sin. Often, this ineffectively implemented intolerance is aimed at the sinner. This behavior has a devastating impact on our ministry and reputation. 61,000 U.S. public schools will soon receive their copy of a music video starring SpongeBob SquarePants, in a remake of the 1979 hit song "We Are Family." Supporting characters include Winnie the Pooh, Barney, Bob the Builder and the Rugrats. Two Christian groups have already taken a public stance against the video and characters, stating they promote the gay agenda. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, and Ed Vitagliano, for the American Family Association both agree the underlying message of the video celebrates the homosexual lifestyle. Attacking cartoon charaters is not new. In 1999, the Reverand Jerry Falwell warned parents that Tinky Winky, a Teletubbie cartoon character, was a "gay role model." "He is purple -- the gay-pride color;" observes the alert, "and his antenna is shaped like a triangle -- the gay pride symbol." Falwell's embarrassing Parent's Alert has since been removed from the school's website, but not before his statements were reported by the press. We didn't have to wait long for a backlash to the latest religious warnings about the SpongeBob video.

Life isn't always fair. Maybe your marriage failed and ruined the dream you had. Maybe your children turned against you and walked away. Maybe it was the loss of your job and career. Your dream house may have fallen apart or your life never materialized into what you expected. You wake up one day and view the aftermath of a life changing storm and fall into emotional paralysis.

There is nothing you can do to change what happened and the last thing you need is someone telling you to get on with your life. You can't get on with your life because you are stuck and you may not even know it. You may be stuck because you have not mourned your loss.

It recently dawned on me that we do not have one single room in our house that is bullet proof. That's a frightening thought, isn't it? You never really know when you are going to need a good, bullet proof room, or one that has a filtered air supply, and purified water, and walls lined with lead. It's important to have a place like that with all the crime these days, not to mention "them". You know, those "they people" who are out to get us. Everyone knows about the conspiracy, don't they?

One night, while thinking about the big bully bad guys out to get us, it dawned on me that we need a bullet proof room in our house. I told my wife and she just shook her head. I even had an idea how we could do it, but she just rolled her eyes and walked away. Sometimes I don't understand her. Surely I jest, or do I?

You must keep my statutes. You must not allow two different kinds of your animals to breed, you must not sow your field with two different kinds of seed, and you must not wear a garment made of two different kinds of fabric. God created pure species of plants and animals and commands us to maintain that purity. If God forbids cross-breeding of animals, crossing animal/human boundaries are obviously beyond the natural order of purity God established, correct? If you thought the idea of cloning humans was our worst nightmare, you ain't seen n-n-n-n-nothing yet! In Minnesota, pigs are being born with human blood flowing in their veins. In Nevada, there are sheep whose livers and hearts are almost completely human. In California, mice peer from their cages with human brain cells firing inside their skulls. Can you imagine what they are thinking?

This message may seem disjointed, but if you read it all the way through, I think you'll understand why.

Parents give their lives for their children. Around the time they are in their teens, many kids decide they hate their parents. This causes unimaginable pain for parents who try to assuage their grief by believing things will turn around when the kids get older, but that does not alway happen, does it? Sometimes, for one reason or another, kids continue to dispise their parents as they grow into adulthood.

What are parents to do when they finally realize their children are never coming home again? How do you cope with the realization you may never see your children again?

I don't know...yet.
