Separation of Church and State - Another Viewpoint

Tuesday, October 29, 2002 (17:23:21)
For years, the topic of the separation of church and state has been loudly debated. Unfortunately, most of this debate has taken place in the churches in the form of preaching instead of constructive negotiation. Pastors rant against the evil tendencies of the government to strip the name of the Lord from courthouse walls, the pledge of allegiance and the face of our coins. They talk of how Madeline Murray O'Hare was successful in getting prayer removed from the schools. They complain when Christians are refused the use of public buildings for religious meetings. They believe the government is becoming more and more anti-Christian. They are quick to quote Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and anyone else they can think of to prove that the forefathers of the United States intended this to be a Christian nation. Most of the arguments are woefully lacking, with good reason.

Pray for Osama bin LadenMatthew 5:44-47
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Did My Baby Go To Heaven

Thursday, October 24, 2002 (21:31:46)
I was working a booth at a local fair, where people could sign a petition to stop abortion. One woman came up looking at the pictures that were displayed, but said she didn't want to talk about it.

Obviously, she felt guilty about having an abortion recently. She finally asked me why I thought it was wrong. I gave a short answer from the Bible, and asked her what she thought.

A Bright Spotlight on Worship Leaders

Tuesday, October 22, 2002 (14:15:00)
What does it take to be a worship leader?  It takes a Godly person who isable to "lead" others into worship.   According to a recent poll showsthe job is not getting done.

Of the regular church attendees polled,
 • Two in three could not describe what worship is.
 • One in three stated they have never experienced God's presence in church.
 • Less than half reported that worship is a priority in their lives.
 • Only one in four described worship as something people do for God.
