This Rock is Big!

A ROCK...A BIG ROCK Not far from where I live there is a rock.  This rock is not just an ordinary rock, but rather it is very unique rock.  It is different from the other rocks near my house.  This is not the kind of rock that you can pick up and skip it across the water.  It is not even a rock that you might want to use in a rock garden.  This rock is big. I mean, this rock is REALLY big! 

Just about 40 miles northeast of where I live and just east of Atlanta, Georgia is Stone Mountain.  Stone Mountain is the largest solid body of exposed granite in the world.  You can take a cable car to the top of the mountain or you can walk up a trail to the top.  Believe me, I don't walk up--I take the cable car.  This rock is really big. On the side of the mountain is a carving which is a memorial to those who fought and died in the American Civil War, or War between the States, during the period of 1860 to 1865.  The nose on the figure of the Confederate General Robert E. Lee is longer than a full-grown man.  This rock is really big.  But, it pales in comparison to the Rock--the Rock of Ages! Jesus is the Rock--The Rock of Ages.  The Bible tells us that He was the "Stone which the builders rejected".  This Rock is REALLY BIG!  Isaiah 51:1 says, "Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were hewn..."  This Rock is BIG.  The whole foundation of the universe is set upon this Rock. My God...this Rock is taller than any man.  Or any giant of a man.  This Rock is bigger than any sin.  This Rock is greater than any government.  This Rock is higher than any mountain.  This Rock is stronger than any pull of the enemy.  This Rock can crush any serpent and roll over any demon.  This Rock stops disease in its tracks and overshadows any circumstance we are in.  This Rock is REALLY BIG! This Rock is Jesus.  He told Peter, "Upon this Rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not overcome it."  The wise man built his house upon the rock.  Let the wise of today build their houses on the ROCK of Ages.  This Rock is Jesus--the only One!  He is the Rock from which the believer is hewn.  Do you hear what I am saying?  This Rock...this Rock of Ages...this Shelter from the storm...this Rock in a weary land...this Rock from which the water flowed...this Rock that rolled the stone away...THIS ROCK IS JESUS!    Selah.
