OCEANO, California (AP) -- A homeless woman has died of suffocation after being buried by three men on a California beach -- a fate her family described as her greatest fear. Three men were being held on involuntary manslaughter charges in the death Wednesday of 53-year-old Patricia Ann Kalbskopf. They allegedly poured sand over her while she was passed out drunk at some dunes along the state's central coast. Investigators say they don't believe the men, who were also drinking, intended to kill Kalbskopf, but their actions resulted in her death. Kalbskopf's niece, Lisa Cruz, said her aunt's fear of burial was so acute she made the family promise to cremate her after her death. The family plans to honor the request. What is the first thing that came to your mind when you read the article? Your initial reaction usually tells a lot about the condition of your heart. If, after reading the article, you thought, "She shouldn't have been drunk," you failed. If you shook your head sadly and muttered, "How could they do such a thing," you failed. If you began to wonder what you could do to stop this horrible thing from happening again, you passed. To dismiss the misfortune of others is judgmental and sinful. Matthew 7:1-2 Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. To sit idly by is sin by reason of neglect. James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin If you had an initial reaction to help in some way, you'll figure out a way if you put your heart and mind to it.
