What Would Jesus Drive?I used to drive a 1989 Mercury station wagon up until a few weeks ago. It was beige and had wood on the sides. You know the type. Disgustingly practical, yet homely in the process. You can fit almost anything in it. With the seats up, you can transport an entire den of cubscouts. Lay the seats down and you can haul about one hundred bags of groceries. Okay, maybe 90 bags, but you get the idea.I bought the woody because it was practical and my 1974 Plymouth Satellite had the dying quivers. The front brakes on that car scraped and squealed so badly, I had to use the emergency brake to stop. (No kidding) When you stepped on the brakes, the dash lights would flicker. The heater didn't work and it had bouncy springs with bad shocks. Still, I was rather fond of the faithful AM radio. All in all, the car was a fashion statement, painted that icky yellowish color with rust accenting the lower half of the body.

Note: Question: Is it me?? I thought this story was fairly plain in focus that we should look closely at our motives...

I came across a Christian website today that troubled me. It had content similar to what could be found in a pornographic magazine or web site, but they were justifying their presence in the Name of the Lord. What conversationcould not somehow be justified with scripture was labeled "scientific". They were not preaching the Gospel. The entire focus of the site was about sex. The FCC fined Howard Stern $600,000 for discussing similar content on his radio show.

September 15, 2001 Why the stock market should not reopen Matthew 6:19-21 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Because of the tragedy on New York, the stock market closed on Tuesday, September 11, and remained closed the rest of the week.  Since that time, people have continued to go to work, buy groceries, work in their yards and carry on a normal life.  What would happen if we kept the stock market closed for good?

Note: Historically, we know the stock market reopened and fell. For three years, the tech stocks (NASDAQ) have remained low even though the NYSE has risen to where it was before the September 11 terrorist attacks. Companies have layed off thousands of workers and sent those jobs to China, Mexico and India, where labor is cheaper. People are blaming the President for the poor economy, forgetting all about what started the mass sell-off of stocks which sparked corporate restructuring.
