First Or Last - It's All The Same To Jesus

Sunday, May 16, 2004 (09:00:08)
"One of the criminals who was hanging there railed at him, saying, Arent you the Christ? Save yourself and us! But the other rebuked him, saying, Dont you fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we rightly so, for we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing wrong. Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom. And Jesus said to him, I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise".

Funny old conversation isn't it? Only Luke bothers to mention it. What did the second criminal see in the broken, pain-wracked figure of Jesus that the other missed?

Expecting Different Results

Saturday, May 15, 2004 (15:37:45)
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- A couple on a low-carb diet was kicked out of a buffet restaurant after the manager said they'd eaten too much roast beef. Sui Amaama, who along with his wife have been on the Atkins Diet for two weeks, was asked to leave after he went up to the buffet at the Chuck-A-Rama in suburban Taylorsville for his 12th slice of roast beef. That's right, his 12th slice. Amaama is one of the hundreds of millions in this world who keep doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.

When You Care Enough (joke)

A new business was opening and one of the owner's friends wanted to send flowers for the occasion.

They arrived at the new business site and the owner read the card; it said "Rest in Peace".

The owner was angry and called the florist to complain. After he had told the florist of the obvious mistake and how angry he was, the florist said.

The Gospel of Prosperity

Saturday, November 09, 2002 (07:10:00)
Do you think God cares how much money you have? There are those who make a strong case for prosperity. If the sign of a true man of faith is wealth, what about those who do not possess wealth? Do they lack faith or are they in sin?If the gathering of wealth were an important part of the gospel, Jesus would have set the example. Maybe the "God wants me rich" people think Jesus was out of God's will. He did not have a house, car or storehouse full of possessions. He did not eat at fancy restaurants or stay in fine hotels.Lest we be accused of expounding conjecture and opinion, we'll let the scriptures speak for themselves.
