Out of the Closet

Sunday, April 14, 2002 (02:34:34)
When I was in highschool, everyday, I would play my guitar all alone in my room and sing to the Lord. One day, there were a couple of other Christian friends praying with me and we began to sing. When they heard me sing, they asked if I would bring my guitar and sing at their Bible study. One thing led to another and soon, I began traveling, singing in churches, retreats and youth group meetings. A short time later, I was in the recording studio, on television and the radio. How did it all happen? When did it stop? Did it ever stop or did things just get back to the way they should be?

I am spending more time in the closet these days.

Note: Dear Rod,
You have hit the nail on the head as the saying goes, Christianity is now very marketable how did the opposition sneek in without being noticed, how clever.
But you saw the light and kept your music for His blessed ear although heavenly soundswill ultimately be called upon to be shared with others.Enjoy the rest,
In Him who Loves beyond our understanding!

Calories and Faith

Saturday, April 06, 2002 (21:58:27)
Has anyone every seen a calorie?

You hear about them on the news, read about them on food wrappers and see the results of them while standing on the bathroom scale.  But has anyone every REALLY seen a real, live calorie?  If you have, raise your hand.

No hands went up across the virtual auditorium. We'll sing one more verse of "Just As I Am (fat)" and see if anyone will come forward.  No? One more verse? [smile] I didn't think so.

The fact is, no one has seen a calorie, but we sure believe in them. How can that be?  I have never seen a volt either, but I can verify their existence by putting my finger in a light socket. I have not seen a hormone, but spend 5 minutes with a teenager and you will become a believer.

A Bird in the House

Friday, March 29, 2002 (01:51:32)
Recently, a bird got in our house. Even though they are quite small, birds can be very spooky when they are in your house. My son and I were REAL jumpy, looking for this bird, almost afraid we would find it. I am sure it was comical watching as two he-men got chills up their spine when they saw this bird flapping by the window sill. My fearless wife had a bath towel ready in case she got the chance to capture the bird and set it free outside. My son and I were hoping she would catch it and save us the worry. The bird is now gone and we are all happy again (including the bird).

Armchair Quarterbacks

Wednesday, March 06, 2002 (00:00:00)
Armchair quarterbacks consider themselves some of the greatest warriors and strategists in history. They know all the plays. They know each player's name and their scoring history. They know what formation the team should use, how accurately to pass the football and how to run a 90 yard touchdown. Unfortunately, they don't get a chance to play. If they did, the game would surely be different.

Black Monday

Sunday, March 03, 2002 (12:54:02)
September 15, 2001 Why the stock market should not reopen Matthew 6:19-21 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Because of the tragedy on New York, the stock market closed on Tuesday, September 11, and remained closed the rest of the week.  Since that time, people have continued to go to work, buy groceries, work in their yards and carry on a normal life.  What would happen if we kept the stock market closed for good?

Note: Historically, we know the stock market reopened and fell. For three years, the tech stocks (NASDAQ) have remained low even though the NYSE has risen to where it was before the September 11 terrorist attacks. Companies have layed off thousands of workers and sent those jobs to China, Mexico and India, where labor is cheaper. People are blaming the President for the poor economy, forgetting all about what started the mass sell-off of stocks which sparked corporate restructuring.
