Who Is This Man?

Saturday, April 03, 2004 (11:57:07)
Each Tuesday, I'm helping to run an video/discussion course for 'new' Christians and the undecided (the majority of this particular group). This weeks topics was "Jesus - who is He?"

Well apart from the fact that "The clue's in the question - i.e. IS not WAS", we had a very interesting and wide-ranging discussion about Jesus, the man. We drew a little matchstick man on a piece of paper with a little 'J' above his head and asked people to shout out words that they relate to Jesus. Teacher, prophet, child, carpenter, sacrifice - yep, He was all of them. Gentle, meek, angry, patient, compassionate - no doubt that he felt all those emotions at one time or another.

The Son Of God? And there the problems started.

The Mirror Crack'd

I'm currently helping to run a video/discussion course for 'new' Christians (or for those who are unconvinced). It's the self same course that I undertook in preparation for my much-postponed (by about 20 years) Confirmation last year. It's a weekly event I look forward to immensely but it's panning out very differently to the last one. The main reason for this is that, of the six people attending, four are sceptics (henceforth refered to as Couple A and Couple B).

Two Wrongs

Wednesday, March 31, 2004 (07:00:00)
Since we were kids we've been told two wrongs don't make a right. Our parents told us this and we told our children, but somewhere along the line, we might fail to apply the wisdom we recite by rote. This was my time to be tested.

I received a call today by Bernard Haldan and Associates. They said they had my resume and wanted to set an appointment so I could speak to their Vice President. Sounds good, right? Read on.

My Hero

I have a great number of heroes. To me, a hero not only does something……. well, heroic, ……...but they also teach you something about yourself in the process.

One such man is Gene Krantz. Gene was Flight Director for the Apollo 11 moon landing. However, for me he is most remembered for the thing he earned the Presidential Medal Of Freedom for - being responsible for bringing the crew of Apollo 13 home alive.

Blessed

Psalm 1:1-6 NASB "How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of thewicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! [2] But his delight is in thelaw of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. [3] And he will be like a tree firmlyplanted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season, And its leaf does not wither; Andin whatever he does, he prospers. [4] The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which thewind drives away. [5] Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in theassembly of the righteous. [6] For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of thewicked will perish."
