Daily Walk: Reprove, Rebuke, Exhort

Thursday, August 08, 2002 (22:57:53)
At Gentle Ministries, we address many issues that Christians face in everyday life.  While most of our messages gently point to the Way we are to live, some point out the pitfalls and snares  along the way.  It is difficult to discuss the pitfalls without stepping on some toes along the way.  Some people are not so willing to let go of their addiction to something so wrong.

We are not sure which article upset him, but apparently Albert Bishop (aebishop@msn.com) has taken issue with something on our site.  We know he has taken issue because...  Well, see what you think.  These samples of email he sent us are quoted in their entirety.  Nothing more.  Nothing less.

Here is a quote from email he sent to us.
(Sent Mon 8/5/02 4:43 PM)
"Pslam (sic) 55  fits you.
I hope God drops you alive into the pits of hell..................."
(short, sweet and to the point) Our reponse to his hopes.
Luke 9:54-56
54
And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. 'nuff said. Here is another he sent.
(Sent Thu 8/8/02 3:07 PM)
"One day you will get what coming to you. Gods patience has an ending " In response... Psalms 107:1
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  Romans 3:23-26
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.  'nuff said.
And yet, one more email from Albert.
(Sent Thu 8/8/02 4:03 PM)
"I will expose you for the fraud that you are. It will take a little time but you need to get out." In response to the first sentence...
Matthew 5:11-16
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.  In response to the second sentence...
Ephesians 6:13-15
13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  Gentle Ministries has been on the Internet since 1996.  We have been barraged by people like Albert for years.  They come and they go, but we are and will be here for many years to come.  Sorry Albert, but we're staying until God tells us it is time to move on. In this day and age, it is easy for people to hide behind the anonymity they find on the Internet.  Some people gobble up free email accounts to spam or threaten others.  You might think their hit-and-run version of Christianity gives true believers a bad name, but this is simply not so.  The world knows what REAL Christianity is all about.  That is why they are quick to point out the bad examples like the 'blessed' diatribe Albert sent us.  Remember, the world will point out bad examples unless you do it first.  So, in case anyone is wondering, what Albert sent in email is NOT what Christianity is about.  Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.  What Albert sent in email is NOT supported by scripture.  Note the scriptures in response to what he wrote.  Are you tired of enduring the type of email sent by Albert Bishop and others like him?  Here's what you should do about it. 2 Timothy 4:2-5
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.  Many are willing to preach the word, be instant in season and out of season.  We also seek to exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.  Few are ready to reprove and rebuke (with all long suffering and doctrine)  Speak the truth in love and your rebuke will remain on course.  You can reprove, rebuke, exhort and still be gentle. Remember, make full proof of (fulfill) your ministry. If you hear someone expounding a doctrine that is not scripturally based, say something, or someone else might make reference to that bad example and label it as "Christian".
Psalms 107:2
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

Note: VJG writes: I feel so sad for this man that sends hateful emails to you, and praise God that he loves us no matter what. I am so blessed each time I receive an email from you.Albert Bishop must truly be under conviction, and my prayers are for him...God bless
