Daily Walk: A Call to Testify

Monday, April 12, 2004 (12:05:34)
We have heard is said many times, "Talk is cheap." The statement is usually meant to downplay a person's claim or promise by insinuating it doesn't cost anything to talk. Saying something is easy to do. It doesn't cost one thin dime to give your testimony even though I am sure there are missed opportunities in conversations around our homes, schools, malls and churches. When was the last time you gave your testimony or testified about what God is doing in your life? Sadly, even though talk is considered cheap, few Christians say much even when they have the chance. At Gentle Ministries, we believe this is because they may not realize that what they have to say is important and how easy it is to get that word out. We're doing something about that.

Years ago, Gentle Ministries started offering free space to anyone who wanted a website for their church or ministry. Even though thousands of sites were requested and created, all but a handful remain today. One by one, they died on the vine from lack of attention. For one reason or another, webmasters lost interest or got busy with other activities. Gentle Ministries has been here throughout the years, day in and day out. While true that we have suffered at the hands of hackers and bandwidth outages, we have faithfully kept the candle lit and placed on a candlestick for all to see. This is not said to toot our own horn. Rather, it shows that we have been here and will continue to be here many years in the future. You can depend on Gentle Ministries to keep the doors open to your Christian home on the Internet. Along with this assurance, comes a challenge. We are challenging each and every Christian to become an Internet missionary. The Internet is the largest mission field in the world. It is also the easiest to access. You can reach millions of people without leaving your home. Talk is cheap. The listeners are waiting. The fields are ripe for harvest. Maybe you have thought about having an Internet ministry. Maybe you had one in the past and for some reason let it drift away. Maybe you currently have an active Internet ministry. Maybe you never considered the possibilities of being involved with an Internet ministry but might be interested. If you fit into any of these four categories, we want to help. Although Gentle Ministries no longer offers free server space to start an Internet ministry, consider this sobering fact. For less than the price of one candy bar per week, you could have your own Internet ministry. For less than the cost of one lunch at MacDonald's, you could support a small Internet ministry for one month. For a measly $3.99 per month, you can have your own Christian web site. Talk is cheap. How much are you saying these days? Is that $3.99 going into your mouth or out of your mouth? Are you willing to give up one meal to reach potentially millions for the Lord? We are not asking for a donation. We want you to spend that money and do it yourself. Lest you entertain thoughts of inadequacy or inability, we have a proposition that may be difficult to refuse.
  • If you would like to become and Internet missionary and don't know how, we'll teach you.
  • If you already know how to maintain a website but need more content, we'll help you get it.
  • If you would like to become an Internet missionary but feel you cannot do it alone, we'll help you find a partner.
  • If you cannot find a suitable place to host your site, we'll help you find one.
We currently have thousands of pages on our site, containing articles, devotionals, sermons, scriptures and study aids. With permission, we will allow you to syndicate some of our content on your site. In fact, we'll even keep it current for you. (This offer is not good for sites using Homestead, Geocities or similar free hosts. It looks bad when your testimony is splattered with secular ads. That would be like advertising for Mac Donald's in your church sanctuary. You know it and God knows it. $3.99 is worth the price for a site without ads. We think Jesus is worth it. Don't you?) Let's recap.
  1. If you don't know how, we'll teach you.
  2. If you lack content, we'll help you get it.
  3. If you need a can't do it alone, we'll help you find a partner.
  4. If you need help finding a place to host your site, we'll help you find one.
  5. We'll authorize you to syndicate some of our content and we'll even keep it current.
You know the spiritual need. You understand the minimal cost. We have now virtually removed all barriers of content, training and support. What have you got to say now? We're listening and so is the rest of the world. Write to missions-hq at gentle dot org We are ready when you are.
