Forget 666...Think 333

Saturday, March 02, 2002 (12:11:24)
If there is any one thing that the movie makers of Hollywood can do, it is that they can leave a lasting impression in your mind.  I remember going to the theater as a little boy.  I would spend Saturdays with my grandparents and have a wonderful time.  My granddaddy would give me a dollar and I would walk the few short blocks to the theater.  With that one dollar I was able to see the movie and buy a coke and popcorn and still have money left to visit the Woolworth five and dime store.

Every week there was a new chapter in the "Adventures of the Lone Ranger".  I still remember to this day the opening clip each week.  "Hi Yo, Silver, and away!"   Movies do make an impression.  From the time that "Rosemary's Baby" and the "Exorcist" began their run, the world has become exposed to the number 666.  The recent releases by Christian groups (Left Behind and others), many Christians have become fixed on the number 666.  I read the story of a man who received his automobile tag in the mail and saw that it had the numbers 666 emblazoned on it.  He stormed down to the tag office and assaulted two clerks in a rage of anger. There are many within the Church who look for demons under every rock and pew.  If someone is sick then they are demon possessed according to some.  They see 666 in everything. I believe the Bible and every truth and statement that is recorded.  And I do believe Revelation to be the revealed truth as given to John by the Lord.  I believe that there are demons and that there is most certainly a literal hell--a place of eternal suffering and torment.  But rather than fixate on 666, I choose to apply 333 to my life. Jeremiah 33:3 says, "Call to me and I will answer you and and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."  God is telling me, and you, to cry out to Him; to pray to Him and to commune with Him.  For He will reveal to us the things He has prepared for His own...incredible and marvelous creations of a mighty and holy Father Who loves His own.  Paul told us that "now we see through a darkened glass but one day all will be crystal clear". Yes, without a doubt the number 666 is significant to us spiritually, but we should know that 333--the promise of Jeremiah 33:3--overshadows and removes any fear that we might have.  Instead of looking for demons let us listen to the incredible revelations of the Spirit to our hearts and minds. Selah.
